Yellow and Blue Café
I started going to Yellow and Blue Café, otherwise known as YAB, last year. I went in for a coffee and realised that I knew some of the staff which meant I wanted to go back just for a chat, coffee and cake.
YAB is a community hub that provides food and hot drinks for homeless people, runs play activities for children and courses for adults. Also provides free sanitary wear and other things free of charge so that if people cannot afford these they can go in and get some.
Cook and chat course
I started a slow cooker cook and chat course; I met many different people and looked forward to going every Tuesday afternoon. At the end of the 6-week course, we all had a free slow cooker. I was very disappointed when the course finished… I asked if I could go again (without the free slow cooker). I was so excited when they said I could and I met another group of people on the course... I also went to the third course!
Comedians and crochet
I have been to a comedian night, attended a crochet class too. I am now going on an air fryer course (will get free one at the end of the 6 weeks)
Volunteering
I am volunteering to sort out donation of school uniforms so that people that cannot afford to buy new ones can come in and choose for their children, people have donated these…..just another thing that YAB do.
I am always made to feel welcome at YAB café, and their cakes are lovely. I have made many friends only last week someone I met on the first cooking course phoned me about meeting up.
