As September draws to a close, so does World Alzheimer’s Month. In case you’ve missed it, we shared a variety of resources across social media, and our website which we think can help support people with a diagnosis of dementia.
We launched the MacIntyre Dementia pathway, which offers a clear structure to support someone who might be developing dementia – you can read more about it here
Health and Wellbeing Faciliator, Rachel Furniss set up workshops with the Page Turners using Books Beyond Words to facilitate and support conversations about physical and mental health, emotions and more.
To mark World Alzheimer’s Day 2024, we wanted to shine a light on the stigma and discrimination people with a learning disability can face when developing and living with dementia.
The Sui-Ling Show invited Dementia specialist, Beth Britton, onto the show to explain the work happening across MacIntyre to support families and people living with someone with dementia.
The available resources don’t stop there though – we have our upcoming Dementia Special Interest Group (DSIGs). These events aren’t just for MacIntyre staff - anyone can join us, for free, to access 3-hours of learning and support that will leave you with inspiration and information about dementia.
Our next DSIG is 22 October 2024 and will focus on the topic of ‘Understanding behavioural changes due to dementia’ and you can register for your ticket here.
