It’s been a busy start to 2025 for the Great Communities team in Warrington. Pete Connor, MacIntyre’s Great Communities Manager shares some highlights:
Warrington Wolves flag bearers
35 people connected to Great Communities attended the first Warrington Wolves home game of the 2025 season. Most of the group are members of the Fit to Tackle Group and several are Great Communities leaders. The game was live on Sky Sports and the entire group were on the pitch as flag bearers before the game with several wearing MacIntyre t-shirts and hoodies – a great way to raise the profile of MacIntyre in the community.
Russel the quiz master
Russell delivered his first community quiz at the Living Well Hub. It was a great success with 38 participants including several social work students from Chester University.
Friendship Group share their experience
The Friendship group did some work with Warrington Borough Council on sharing their lived experience on community food groceries and shops and talking points; they identified what works well and suggested some areas for development with some great ideas including recipe cards.
I've only been in Warrington for a short time having moved from another area. My social worker introduced me to Great Communities and I'm now a member of Fit to Tackle and the Film Club and have been to a Warrington Wolves game. I now use the bus and will be going to more Wolves games as I love sports.

Photo Voice Exhibition
A successful Photo Voice exhibition was launched in collaboration with Chester University, with work displayed for a week in Warrington’s Golden Square shopping centre. Over 40 people attended the launch event and many more attended during the week.
I live in Warrington and saw the Photo Voice display in Golden Square. As a former teacher it’s great to see how MacIntyre have invested in the talents of so many people. The display was an eye opener on what people can do in the community; well done everyone.
