Recently, people we support in Kent have been sharing their achievements via a ‘Boast Board’. The display board features photographs and quotes from people who live there and is visible to visitors.
Speaking about the idea, staff in Kent said:
“The idea of the ‘Boast Board’ came about when speaking with staff and the people we support. We felt it would be lovely to give visitors a look into all the wonderful achievements that happen here. Also, It is important to empower the people we support by celebrating their achievements.”
By celebrating achievements big and small, staff hope that the people we support will feel inspired to try new things.
Some of the achievements included:
“I swam 18 lengths today.”
“I won a medal for taking part in a rugby activity at my work sports day.”
“Today I learnt how to cook a homemade fish pie.”
