Over the last few months, our team and people we support in Derbyshire have swapped the indoor MacIntyre Charity Shop in Queen's Park, for a stall at the Staveley Market each Friday, selling a variety of items to raise money for MacIntyre.
For Kim, a lady supported by MacIntyre, working at the stall has proved to be essential for her wellbeing. Kim is often quiet but has found that lockdown has been detrimental to her confidence. Since working at the MacIntyre stall, Kim has blossomed.
Speaking about the impact the stall has had on Kim, Rachel a member of our team in Derbyshire said:
"At the stall, Kim came alive. She has learned so many new skills and has enjoyed chatting with new people. The stall is also breaking down the barriers between the people we support and members of the public, which is fantastic. It is raising awareness of learning disabilities too."
