Find out how Electra Co-Produced a Documentary with Marketing Lead, Annie Hitchman.
During June, No Limits learner Electra spent time with Marketing Lead Annie creating a documentary about her passion: the Paralympics.
Electra reached out for experience to develop her skills to help with employment and further work experience to fulfil her passion for working with the Paralympic Heritage team. Electra had already completed some work with the Paralympics and was determined to make a big impression.
The work experience involved four two-hour sessions, and Annie broke those sessions down to help Electra get the most out of her time.
Session 1 - Planning and Scoping the Documentary
The first session was a brainstorming and ideas session to decide what the objectives of the work experience would be and what Electra wanted to take away from the experience. This involved exploring lots of options and determining what felt comfortable for Electra. After some exploring, it was decided that a documentary with images and Electra's voice-over about the Paralympics would be a fantastic contribution and an opportunity to develop a variety of skills in planning, scripting, filming, voice-over, and editing.
Session 2 - Researching and Scripting Voice-Over
In this session, Electra researched key information for the documentary and then put this into a loose script. Annie helped break down how to put a video together from introduction, middle, and conclusion so the video would have a narrative and flow.
Session 3 - Filming at the Paralympics Stadium
This was a fantastic session where the meaty part of the project took place. Electra led this session, choosing where photos and videos would be taken and referring to her plan and script to pull the visuals together.
Session 4 - Voice-Over Recording and Editing
In the last session, Electra and Annie worked together to place the visuals with the audio and framework of the documentary.
