We all want to live in the place we call home with the people and things that we love, in communities where we look out for one another, doing things that matter to us.
At first glance this is such a simple statement that it should be obvious but, for many people who draw on social care support, this is not the reality. MacIntyre made a conscious decision to join the Social Care Future movement which, along with other organisations, people who draw on support and individuals is collaborating to share the vision and make the shift to this new future.
Planning for the first of a series of "More Than A Provider" gatherings, in collaboration with Social Care Future, began earlier this year after MacIntyre and three other provider organisations — Certitude, Choice Support, and United Response — pledged to demonstrate that you can be "more than a provider." This aligns with MacIntyre’s DNA and ensuring that this vision comes to life, going beyond traditionally commissioned “services” and seeing how our connections and relationships can better contribute as allies and partners with people with learning disabilities and/or autism.
The Manchester event enabled everyone who attended to focus on shared interests that bring people together as well as using those shared interests to develop ideas on helping people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live their best life.
