For Safeguarding Adults Week, we wanted to share a couple of resources about how we work in partnership with the people we support.
We put people at the heart of everything we do, and take a collaborative approach to safeguarding. Our aim is for people to feel supported and empowered to take control in all areas of their lives.
Here is a useful video from Lambeth Council about how to make Safeguarding personal –
Some of the people living in Milton Keynes, supported by MacIntyre also came together to talk about create a film about Safeguarding called ‘Don’t keep it to yourself, tell someone you can trust’ which you can find here.
Our Safeguarding workplan has been put together to reflect not only the six principles of safeguarding, but with the MacIntyre DNA, and we understand local communities have a part to play in preventing, detecting and reporting neglect and abuse.
“I know that staff treat any personal and sensitive information in confidence, only sharing what is helpful and necessary. I am confident that professionals will work together and with me to get the best result for me.”
As stated in our DNA, we value friends, family and neighbourhoods, and in creating partnerships with local communities, they can assist in preventing and detecting abuse. We listen to and value friends and families knowledge and input, with the understanding that the person has autonomy over their life and choices.
