MacIntyre’s Inspired for Training, a group of people supported in Chesterfield, are delighted to share that they have been selected to review upcoming releases of ‘Books Beyond Words’.
Beyond Words provide material for people who may find pictures easier to understand than words and are used regularly by the Inspired for Training group.
Alison Wright, Coordinator for the Inspired for Training group said:
"So far we have been asked to review two books. Initially, we were asked if we would like to review a book on eye care, as the group are part of a peer network that delivers training in eye care to people with a learning disability.”
Alison added:
“This year we have been asked to review a book on constipation. People with a learning disability have died from complications of this, so it's an important but difficult subject to discuss. We prepared our group by asking a health facilitator to talk with our group first before they read the new book."
Sharon, a member of the group said,
"I think the books are great, anyone can read them, and they talk about stuff that's important."
