My Work Experience At Central As A No Limits Learner

Hey I’m Saskia

I was interested in experience at Central because I wanted to experience what it is like to work in an office in a different setting from what I am used to. The first day was all about meeting people and getting to know who I would be working with alongside my Community Teaching Facilitator Toni. Meeting the different teams such as Recruitment, Marketing, and Front desk helped me to feel welcome at the central office.

In my first session, I worked with Annie in marketing and we brainstormed ideas for social media content that I could help with. I grew skills in filming, and editing and found confidence in talking to the camera for social media.

I then worked with Hayley, Greg, and Donna in recruitment with a lot of different tasks. These involved CV scanning, picking out appropriate recruitment photos, and reflecting of the skills I have learned in recruitment.

I also gained experience at the front desk as an office manager such as checking the fridge temperature to make sure no food will go off and make staff unwell. I also helped separate confidential documents and disposing of them in the correct way.

My biggest takeaway from working across these departments and having office experience is I liked working in this setting but maybe not for long term. I am very creative and I’m excited to work on other projects and develop my skills in other areas.

For my next steps I would like to get experience in nails which is my interest or baking and working in a coffee shop. I’m excited to see what 2025 has in store for me.

Thank you for reading! Here are some photos of my time during work experience in Central.
