Today we would like to introduce you to Tracy Claridge, Marjorie Newton Wright Award winner in the Innovation category.
Tracey is a Community Teaching Facilitator at MacIntyre No Limits™ in Oxfordshire. She’s also a talented holistic therapist.
Thanks to her particular skills, she has been instrumental in lifting the wellbeing of staff and students. An example of this is a timetabled session that takes place every Monday morning. Tracy recognised a need for students to focus on their own wellbeing and to learn strategies to manage their own needs. She worked closely with students to establish the session and, over time has enabled students to work together during this session.
One student in particular has gained so much from these sessions that this has positively impacted on his ability to learn. When James* started he could rarely sit still or focus for more than a few minutes, resulting in high anxiety in his college sessions. During the wellbeing sessions his periods of focus gradually increased and he is now able to focus for over an hour and is calmer and happier.
Tracy’s manager said:
“Staff have also benefitted from Tracy’s work, she should be very proud of herself as she has inspired her colleagues to have a wellbeing focus too.”
