People who draw on our support at the Learning Centre in Warrington wanted to make sure to mark Remembrance Day, as this is important to them and a lot of people.
The start of an idea
We spend a lot of time at Orford Community Hub, a local community centre.
People thought it would be a great idea to create a display for the reception area, and asked if this would be possible. The community centre were pleased with the idea and asked us to go ahead.
Linking up with others
So the group worked hard on a display for Remembrance Day. We have a connection with another local group called All Sewn Up, and with Warrington Borough Council and reached out to see if they would like to join us.
They were pleased to help, so it was a real collaborative effort.
Putting up the display
Everyone who has come into the community centre has commented on how lovely the display is.
The Centre Manager, Ryan, said:
I’m blown away by how great this display is and how many people have stopped to admire it.
People we support really enjoyed working on this project with new friends from the other groups.
Pam said:
I loved helping with it and felt very proud
Lesley loved it and was keen to point out all her contributions.
More ideas for the future
And the Council were very impressed and want more work to go up in the future.
A great example of working together, helping others to think about what’s important, and being visible.
