Are you keeping safe online? MacIntyre’s ‘Inspired for Training’ group, which consists of people we support in Chesterfield, have developed an Easy Read pack, to help people with a learning disability stay safe when surfing the web.
Carole Hodgson, MacIntyre’s Training and Development Officer and Learning Support Worker said:
"We have shifted our main focus from keeping safe when out and about to keep safe online. Today we are more likely to be a victim of a crime online than we are walking down the street. It is so important for us to ensure that we keep up to date and keep people with a learning disability safe when they are online."
Discussing the Internet safety pack, a member of MacIntyre’s Inspired for Training group said:
" All of the leaflets are easy to understand. I have used Internet leaflet and with my mum's support, I have spoken to my teenage son about what is good and what is not so good about the Internet. It made me feel good to be able to help him understand."
