We were delighted to welcome a group of volunteers from John Lewis Partnership recently to help us out with some work on our allotments in Milton Keynes.
Learning horticulture
MacIntyre’s No Limits division works with young people of college age who have a learning disability or autism.
Each young person has a bespoke curriculum, and several learners are keen to gain horticultural skills.
An overgrown allotment
So earlier this year, the No Limits team in Milton Keynes took over three extremely neglected and overgrown plots at a local allotment site.
John Lewis steps in
John Lewis heard about this through our local community work, and came up trumps. Not only did they donate £1,000 to the No Limits allotment project, some of their partners turned out in force one sunny afternoon to put in some real hard graft.
Working alongside our staff and learners, they cleared, they mowed and they dug. They forged friendships and enjoyed seeing the difference they made. We’re told they were having so much fun they stayed on a couple of hours after they were supposed to finish.
We are so grateful for their efforts, and they are welcome back any time!
