People who live at Crosby Close in St Albans love a celebration! With their staff team they are always on the look out for something to share: time, food, and companionship.
Springtime and sunshine put us in the mood for a party. We wanted to bring everyone together and thought about what is important: food (!), music, and fun for people of all ages.
We have also been thinking about “how can we help” others. We met with St Albans Community Pantry – a connection I originally found on Facebook - who are doing great things locally. We thought it would be brilliant to try to raise some money and awareness for their work.
Organising an Easter Egg Hunt
Everyone thought a community Easter Egg Hunt was a great idea. We set about thinking who we know and who we could connect with to make it a success.
The Pantry offered to bring and serve refreshments to people on the day, and we guaranteed that all donations raised on the day would go to them.
Local involvement
We spoke to the gym round the corner and they were keen to be involved. They asked their members to bring and donate an Easter Egg.
We bumped into a local carpenter who liked the idea and offered to make some wooden bunnies to use as part of a game and add to the fun. People got these all painted up and colourful.
When I went to an event in Ware, I met someone from The Vocabelles, a singing group. They offered to come to get us all dancing and enjoying some music.
We spoke with the people at the local farm who offered 20 hay bales for people to sit on.
A hopping great day!
We made posters and put them up and reached out to our local park and nursery to ask people to come and join the fun.
All we needed was the weather!! And it was a beautiful sunny day.
Families had to find each wooden bunny, collect a letter and make a word in order to win their egg prize. Everyone joined in and had fun. We sang along with the Vocabelles, enjoyed a magician, ate delicious food and had a great day.
It was lovely to see where people live and they are all happy enjoying the community coming together

Huge thanks to everyone who made it all happen.
