This month we’ve talked about Intensive Interaction and the essential part it plays in young people’s social development.
But how does someone qualify as an Intensive Interaction practitioner?
Qualifying process
Well although there is a qualification requirement, it doesn’t stop there. Intensive Interaction training and qualification isn’t like getting a GCSE in history, it’s about the difference the everyday practice of Intensive Interaction continues to make in the lives of young people.
That said, it is important to gain the qualification, and for this to happen each person is mentored in the techniques of Intensive Interaction, and has to submit video evidence of their interactions with a young person. Qualifications are renewed annually.
Mentoring
At MacIntyre, we’re lucky to have some experienced Intensive Interaction mentors.
We looked in on an interview between one of our mentors, Kate, and Amandeep, who has newly qualified in Intensive Interaction.
In this video, you’ll see what a positive process this is, and how Amandeep is now determined to continue her learning and working with more young people.
