Today as part of our Humans of MacIntyre series, we’re talking to Fabienne Batten, who is Care Coordinator at MacIntyre School and Children’s Homes in Wingrave.
Fabienne's role
What does a Care Coordinator do? Well Fabienne is responsible for making sure that all the shifts are covered, allowing for staff holidays, any sickness cover and so on.
She's also one of the ‘social media champions’ at Wingrave, keeping local social channels engaging and informative. More on that later.
Starting early
How did Fabienne find her job? She originally joined the school at the age of 18 as a Learning Support Assistant and was later promoted to Senior Learning Support Assistant.
MacIntyre was already familiar to her, as two of her sisters worked here.
Inspiration
Another sister, Cheyenne, is Autistic. She provides a lot of inspiration – the question “would I want this for my sister” informs a lot of Fabienne’s work with children.
Returning to MacIntyre
Fabienne did move away from MacIntyre for a while. She spent some time working in domiciliary care in another company, but found it lonely, with no sense of teamwork or support.
She returned to us in her current role as Care Coordinator and hasn’t looked back.
Taking to TikTok
Fabienne has brought her personal success using social media to her work with MacIntyre. She recently set up a new TikTok account for the school which is proving hugely popular with pupils’ parents. One parent described it as a lovely day-to-day way of keeping up with their child’s life over and above formal updates.
Horses, music and climbing
In her spare time, Fabienne shares a love of horses with her partner, which is convenient as they live on a farm which has a riding school.
She tells us she also loves listening to disco and Motown.
And in May, Fabienne and her partner are climbing Snowdon to raise money for MacIntyre. How amazing!
Thanks Fabienne for everything you do at MacIntyre.
