The Autism Network at MacIntyre is celebrating its one-year anniversary, marking a significant milestone in creating a vibrant and inclusive space for discussing and learning about autism.
Jess Sutton, a key figure in the network, expressed her pride in the environment they have cultivated.
"The Autism Network is a great space to discuss and learn about Autism. It is a wonderful safe space, and I am so proud of the environment we have created. I'm so excited to see it grow and develop even more!"
Throughout the past year, the network has facilitated meaningful conversations on a variety of topics, from small talk and relationships to voting and mental health. Sonya Cox highlighted the value of these discussions:
"This past year we have shared experiences within the group on a range of topics. I have learnt so much from meeting with everyone and want to thank all advocates who have attended the meetings and shared their experiences."
The network has not only strengthened connections within MacIntyre but has also extended its reach externally, fostering a broader community of support and understanding. Sonya continued,
"It has been a great opportunity to meet people across MacIntyre and external to MacIntyre as well. We are hopeful that this next year will show more interest and form wider connections."
A special acknowledgment was given to Jess Sutton for her exceptional leadership and contributions. Sonya expressed her gratitude, stating,
"My biggest thanks go to Jess, whose chairing of the meetings, contributions to content, and sharing of her own experiences have been so insightful. Out of all the meetings and sessions I have, this one is the one I look forward to the most."
As The Autism Network at MacIntyre embarks on another year, the community looks forward to further growth and the continued sharing of valuable experiences and insights.
