In Bedfordshire we offer support for children, young people and adults in Ampthill, Bedford, Flitwick and the surrounding areas.
Westoning Manor in Bedfordshire was the site of MacIntyre’s first property in the 1960s; we are proud of our past and still have three purpose-built homes in the original walled garden.
We offer Registered Care, Supported Living, Lifelong Learning and Outreach. We were delighted to acquire a new Learning Centre in Bedford – My Time Bedford - in 2023.
Our Learning Centres in Ampthill and Bedford provide meaningful activities for adults. We have strong connections with local people businesses and groups in the surrounding areas which enable countless opportunities for learning and creativity right on the doorstep. The annual Strawberry Tea, open to all, is just one of many events in the calendar.
A recent CQC report for one of the registered care homes found:
Staff were positive about the support they received from the management team. Staff members had a thorough induction at the service before they begun supporting people directly.
A relative said
The house doesn’t feel like a 'care home'. Staff make it feel so homely and comfortable for my relative.
MacIntyre No Limits™ in Bedford is our post-16 education provision, delivered in partnership with Milton Keynes College and Bedford Borough Council.
Opened in 2022 at a freshly renovated base in Cotton End, support is provided for young people whose learning difficulties or autism mean that mainstream education won't always meet their needs. A tailored curriculum means we teach what is important for the individual: key life skills and appropriate lessons in literacy, numeracy and ICT both in the No Limits base and in the local area.
One student who has benefitted from this approach is Amanda (not her real name).
Amanda had been supported 2:1 in school and was not included in any of the group lessons. During her first term with No Limits we developed a communication system that enabled Amanda to make active choices in her day and have control of how, where and what she was learning.
This in turn made Amanda more secure and confident in her learning and, by using a communication method that made sense to her, Amanda was not only able to join in group sessions with peers, but also made friends with other learners.
Our registered children’s home in Bedfordshire is home to five young people aged 10 to 19 who attend our nearby MacIntyre School in Wingrave.
The detached house on a quiet road also has a spacious garden with a sunken trampoline, swing and a beautiful summer house that doubles up as a base for arts and crafts.
The young people love nothing more than getting out and about and having fun, from bowling to swimming, rugby to trampoline parks or shopping, the list goes on!
Rated Good by Ofsted, the most recent inspection found:
