At MacIntyre, we understand the value that short breaks bring in helping children to experience a range of activities, widen their circles of friendship and become more involved in their local communities, while giving vital support to parents and carers. It is important that you feel comfortable providing children and young people with varied levels of support within their own home, which could be anything from helping them during a meal time to assisting with personal care duties. There will also be opportunity to facilitate meaningful and stimulating activities within the local community and help the children we support have a good time!
Experience of working with children or people with a learning disability is advantageous but we provide full specialist training, so the right people will gain all the skills they need. Due to the importance of the service to the children, young people and parents it is essential that you are able to build trusting relationships and instill confidence in your practice.
As everyone’s requirements and aspirations are different it is essential that you understand and demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach to work. A full UK, manual, driving licence is extremely beneficial.
